Services

We proudly offer the following veterinary services for the care of your beloved pet.

Health Exams

A yearly exam is the best preventative medicine to ensure that your pet is happy, healthy, and by your side for many years. During your pet's appointment, one of our certified veterinary technicians or veterinary assistants will take a comprehensive health history. Our doctors will then perform a thorough physical examination. If any abnormalities are found, we will discuss them with you and provide treatment options.

Puppy & Kitten

How exciting! You've just acquired a new puppy or kitten, but what comes next? Becoming a pet parent can be overwhelming. Let us help guide you by answering any questions and addressing any concerns that may arise. We will conduct a comprehensive physical examination, including a nose-to-tail assessment, and then discuss vaccination recommendations, spaying/neutering, nutrition, behavior, and training.

Senior Pet Care

Just as humans are now living longer lives, so are our pets. While this is wonderful, we are seeing an increase in age-related diseases. Common health issues include arthritis, dental disease, periodontal disease, heart disease, kidney or liver disorders, cancer, and cognitive decline. Senior pets should undergo biannual examinations to evaluate their overall health and address any changes in their habits, mobility, or disposition. If pain and arthritis are a concern, we can develop a pain management plan that may include both medication and non-medication options to help your pet find relief.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are another crucial component of your pet's preventive care program. With proper vaccination, your pet can easily avoid many serious health issues. Hill-Dale adheres to the vaccine protocols of the American Animal Hospital Association. Cats and dogs have specific core vaccines, which are strongly recommended for all pets, and non- core vaccines, which may be recommended based on a pet's specific lifestyle. Our team will assist you in determining which vaccines are necessary for your pet and establishing a vaccination schedule.

Surgery

Our practice offers a wide range of surgical procedures. We commonly perform spaying and neutering procedures, but we are not limited to these services. In addition, we perform cruciate ligament repairs, soft tissue surgeries, biopsies, exploratory surgeries, splenectomies, and bladder stone removal. We are happy to offer estimates and discuss our monitoring and safety protocols.

Dental Care

Your pet's dental health is crucial for their overall well-being. Oral diseases can cause discomfort for your pet. If left untreated, harmful bacteria from the mouth can spread to your pet's heart, liver, and kidneys. Our dental procedure involves more than just a "cleaning." The veterinarian will perform an oral examination and then develop a treatment plan for your pet. During the dental procedure, your pet will be placed under general anesthesia, intubated, and closely monitored to ensure the safest possible experience. We first scale and polish your pet's teeth. Digital dental x-rays are performed to assess the need for any necessary extractions. If extractions are needed, they will be removed at this time. Your pet will receive pain medication prior to the procedure, as well as a pain management plan for home. During your pet's dental discharge, we will discuss preventive options to improve your pet's future oral health.

Radiology

We offer on-site digital X-ray services, which facilitate the rapid diagnosis of various disorders. We use digital X-rays, which enables us to email them to owners or referral facilities. Our X-ray software is integrated with our reference lab, making it convenient to consult with board-certified radiologists.

Diagnostics

Our practice maintains a fully integrated Idexx diagnostic suite in-house. This is important for quickly diagnosing illnesses. We also utilize Idexx diagnostic reference lab for specialized additional testing that your pet may require.

Pharmacy

Hill-Dale maintains a comprehensive inventory of pharmaceuticals to ensure that our patients receive all necessary medications. Our hospital also partners with reputable compounding pharmacies to provide specialized medications that your pet may need. We offer products for parasites, flea and tick control, and heartworm prevention. Check out our online pharmacy, https://hilldale.vetsfirstchoice.com, or preventative refills and prescription foods.

Laser Therapy

We are excited to be one of the few veterinary facilities in the area that offer laser therapy. Cold laser therapy can be beneficial for a variety of conditions, including post-surgical care, injury treatment, pain management, and arthritis treatment. Laser therapy is a painless and non-invasive procedure that utilizes photons to reduce inflammation, stimulate blood flow, release endorphins, and improve cell health.

Microchipping

Every year, millions of dogs and cats get lost. A pet that is microchipped is much more likely to be returned home. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected under the skin between the shoulder blades. Your home address and contact information are associated with the microchip. Veterinary facilities and shelters are equipped with microchip scanners to assist in euniting pets with their owners.

Nutrition

Your pet's nutrition is essential for their long-term health and well-being. Our team can help guide you in choosing the best food for your pet. We offer guidance on nutrition for various life stages and can also develop a personalized nutritional plan to optimize weight loss, improve mobility, or support the treatment of a specific disease. Our hospital carries the highest quality prescription foods from Purina, Hill's Science Diet, and Royal Canin.

Behavioral Counseling

Many pet owners experience behavior issues with their pets at some point in their lives. Our team understands how frustrating it can be and is here to help. We offer one-on-one behavioral consultations with one of our veterinarians or provide contact information for local professional training options.

Travel

When traveling with your pet, it is important to meet specific health criteria for the area or country you are traveling to. We have the necessary forms for travel and can assist by examining your pet to ensure they meet the travel requirements.

Euthanasia

The decision to euthanize a pet may be one of the most difficult decisions you make as a pet parent. We understand this and are here to help you and your pet feel as comfortable as possible. We offer cremation options through Midwest Cremation Services. They offer a wide selection of urns, keepsakes, paw prints, and jewelry to honor the memory of your beloved pet.
