Dr. Mara Doughty - Veterinarian/Owner
I joined Hill-Dale Veterinary Hospital in January 2004, became a partner on January 1, 2006 and full owner in December of 2016 after Dr. Schellenberger retired. I moved to Baraboo from Marinette, WI where I practiced companion animal medicine for six years. After completing my undergraduate studies at UW-Madison, I earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1996 from Iowa State University. I completed my internship at the Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. Currently, I am working to obtain certification with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.
I enjoy internal medicine, dermatology, animal behavior and ultrasonography. My memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association. I am also a committee member of the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and Hill-Dale is a member of Friends of the Dog Park. I enjoy gardening and long walks and hikes at Devil's Lake. I particularly enjoy the atmosphere of small town practice because I am able to get to know my clients and their pets on a more personal level.
Dr. Samantha Steinich - Associate Veterinarian
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and joined the practice in 2013. I also obtained my undergraduate degree at the UW, where my love for animal care continued to grow. From a young age, I knew veterinary medicine was my passion and spent my time during vet school volunteering at a local humane society. I am a member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. I also work closely with community outreach by teaching grade school and high school students about veterinary medicine. My clinical interests include preventative care, cardiology, behavior, oncology, and surgery.
When not at the clinic, I enjoy exploring what the beautiful Baraboo area has to offer through hiking and road biking. My husband and I welcomed our first child this past September, a baby boy named Elliot. We also share our home with two dogs, a rescued German Shepherd mix named Apollo, and a rambunctious Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Quinn.
Dr. Michael Dobbert - Associate Veterinarian
I am a life-long Wisconsin resident and have loved working with animals for over 20 years. Previously, while earning my undergraduate degree from the UW-Madison, I worked at the Milwaukee County Children’s Zoo. I then conducted research for multiple years before deciding to return to school and obtain my DVM. I have greatly enjoyed practicing small animal medicine in the Baraboo area for the past several years. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Information Network.
When not at the hospital, I enjoy the beautiful Baraboo area by hiking, biking, camping, grilling and gardening at home. My wife, toddler daughter, newborn son and I share our home with two cats, Tony and Maxine, as well as Rococo, a Shepherd-Lab mix, and Ralphie, a brindle Pug-French Bulldog mix.
