Sammy D was found in June of 2003 east of Baraboo.  He was very feral, but Dr. Schellenberger caught him with a live trap and brought him in to the hospital.  He was less than 3 lbs at that time.  He was 5-6 months old and should have been at least twice that weight!  He was severely malnourished and dehydrated.  He had fleas, lice, several different types of worms and a badly infected eye.  Dr. S treated his eye for several months, but it was so infected that when he was neutered, the eye was taken out as well.  He had some problems at first with his coordination and depth perception, but now gets along just fine!  He is a lovable kitty, but still continues to be a bit shy around strangers.  He LOVES big dogs and will walk right up to any of them just to say hello!  He is an important part of the dynamic here at Hill-Dale!
